The premises
H.Sverdrup AS' new and modern premises
cover an area of
1575 m2
and were completed in 2001.
The
fish hall and landing station is approved by the
Norwegian Ministry of Fisheries
in
accordance with demands made by the European Agreement
on the Economic Area.
For hygienic reasons, and in accordance with EU
regulations, the building has been divided into two
separate parts, of which one is a sterile zone.
The fish is sluiced
in
between the sterile and non-sterile zones.
The bright and pleasant premises are decorated with
large works of art made from tiles by the German artist
Rolf Derkorn,
who now lives
in
Olhao, Portugal.

Production
H.Sverdrup AS (Ltd.) produces approx.1,400,000
kg of fish a year, of which
approx.
700.000 kg
is stockfish made for the most part from cod and saithe.
Production also includes
approx.
300.000 kg
of fresh fish and
400.000 kg
of
salted fish.
The stockfish is exported directly, mainly to Italy,
where stringent demands are made on the quality of the
produce. The salted
fish
is either exported directly, or sent to Norwegian
klipfish factories.
The
fresh fish is sent to Norwegian exporters. The fish is
landed by about 20-30 regular boats from Reine, and is
caught using gillnets, Danish seines, longlines or hand
lines.
